Return to Sistemas Peer-to-peer e Sistemas Móveis/Peer-to-peer and Mobile Systems The use of mobile devices such as handhelds and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) to data access anywhere and any time is becoming more common. However, PDAs devices have limited computational resources. Therefore, reduction of memory space and efficiency in accessing data are critical issues. This paper presents an efficient framework to data access, storage and compression in mobile devices with limited computational resources. In order to achieve our goal we have developed and implemented a storage structure and a mechanism to provide the access and management of compressed data. Experimental results show improvements of performance and reduction of required memory space to data storage. ![]() ©2006 Association for Computing Machinery |
