The severity of the process of responsible selection of works for the recognized quality of the programming technique of the SBBD. The 75 submissions of works for the SBBD'2000 had been distributed to the members of the program committee, or the qualified collaborators for them indicated, being that each article was attributed the 3 copyholders initially. These had analyzed and judged articles, justifying its opinion through one to seem cirscustanciado to the authors, eventually with recommendations to the program committee. A time returned the evaluations, had been requested quarrels between the appraisers and/or to seem you add for the cases where the trend the aceitação/rejeição in the clear age. The Steering Committee, base in these to seem and quarrels you add promoted with the members of the Committee of Program, selected 26 works.

 Invited Lectures

The invited lectures inside involve the presentation of a current and excellent subject of the thematic one of the event, made for guests special. The masters invited are people of recognized intellectual authority and of proven accomplishments in its areas of performance, typically professors doctors of important institutions of Brazil and the exterior. Each lecture to have duration of 1 hour. For 2000 the participation of two masters is confirmed invited, to know Calton Pu and Daniela Florescu. The summarized resume of the two palestrantes presented below, being that the presented full resume in annex:

Calton Pu - Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.
Calton Pu was born in Taiwan, but grew up in Brazil. He received his PhD from University of Washington in 1986 and served on the faculty of Columbia University and Oregon Graduate Institute. Currently, he is holding the position of Professor and John P. Imlay, Jr. Chair in Software at the College of Computing, Georgia Institute of Technology. He is leading the Infosphere project, part of the DARPA Information Technology Expedition program. Infosphere is a joint project between Georgia Tech and OGI, plus a number of other collaborators. Infosphere builds on his previos and ongoing research interests. First, he has been working on next-generation operating system kernels to achieve high performance, adaptiveness, security, and modularity, using program specialization, software feedback, and domain-specific languages. This area has included projects such as Synthetix, Immunix, Microlan-guages, and Microfeedback, applied to distributed multimedia and system survivability. Second, he has been working on new data and transaction management by extending database technology. This area has included projects such as Epsilon Serializability, Reflective Transaction Framework, and Continual Queries over the Internet.
His collaborations include applications of these techniques in scientific re-search on macromolecular structure data, weather data, and environmental data, as well as in industrial settings. He has published more than 25 journal papers, 90 conference and refereed workshop papers, and served on more than 40 program committees, including the co-PC chair of SRDS'95, co-general chair of ICDE'97, and co-PC chair of ICDE'99. He is currently an associate editor of IEEE TKDE, DAPD, and IJODL. His research is currently funded by NSF, DARPA, Intel, Tektronix, and other sources.

Daniela Florescu - INRIA, Frana. Daniela Florescu received her Ph.D. in 1996, on "Search Spaces for Object Oriented Query Optimization". She is now a researcher at INRIA Rocquencourt, in the Caravel project. Dr. Florescu is among the authors of the XML-QL query language and the main designer of the Strudel web-site management system. Her current research interests include XML technologies (query languages, storage, query optimization), static query optimization, data-intensive web site management, and data cleaning. Daniela Florescu is also a member of the W3C working group on new proposal submitted to the W3C working group.
