• Advantages
  • good response time
• Disadvantages:
  • space overhead
  • hard to propagate updates
  • materialization granularity (page) is inconvenient

3. XML fragments

• Advantages:
  • separation between content and graphical representation, highlighting the structure of the data content of a page
  • less space overhead, flexible granularity
• Disadvantages:
  • harder updates propagation than DB

1. Views on the database
• Advantages :
  • algorithms to decide which views to materialize
  • easy to propagation updates
• Disadvantages:
  • does not reduce the Web and DB servers load
