Copyrights
Rights belong to the Creator
Exceptions
- Employees - Work made for hire
- Contractor Agreements - Contractors must agree to assign and assign copyright rights
Notes:
Copyright rights belong to the authors of the work.
1. If the employer hired the employee to make the work, then the employer may own the rights. This is called a ôwork made for hireö.
2. Contractors do not fall within the work for hire doctrine. So, the employer must include a clause in the contractor agreement stating that the contractor agrees to assign her copyright rights to the employer.
